Isolation brought about by the global pandemic has been a major catalyst in Nygaard's work.
When life came to a screeching halt, it opened the door to anxieties, both old and new. With time
for self-reflection and new problems to solve, Nygaard faced challenges head on with her most
powerful tool--a paint brush. 

"I think in pictures sometimes, when I don't have words for something, I see an image in my
head instead,” says Nygaard. “Painting gives me a chance to let it out and connect with
people."
